Object Database for Constants : The common CLEO Online and Offline solution

چکیده
After the successful conclusion of the CLEO III phase, the CLEO experiment at the Cornell electron positron storage ring CESR is preparing for its transition to CLEO-c. This new program contains a wide array of Physics studies at e + e − collisions at center of mass energies between 3 GeV and 5 GeV that will provide new insights into QCD. Because the existing Silicon Vertex Detector needed to be replaced within a short time, a 6 layer Vertex Drift Chamber has been installed in Spring 2003. At the same time, the existing Ring Imaging Cherenkov Detector, along with a conventional Drift Chamber, E.M. Calorimeter and Muon Chambers, will continue to be part of the experiment. The CLEO Constants Database system must provide efficient access to detector and analysis constants for a wide variety of purposes, such as hardware configuration, Online operation and monitoring, calibration, and the complete CLEO analysis framework. Since the original project, implemented through the Objectivity Object Database Management System, did not meet those requirements, the system was redesigned from the ground up, using the same technology. It is currently being introduced into the production environment without significant interruptions. In this presentation, we will outline the specifications of the constants database system, and then report on the process that led to the redesign. Performance comparisons and insights on relevant design aspects will be shown.

The CLEO collaboration at the Cornell Electron Positron Storage Ring CESR has completed its transition to the CLEO-c experiment. This new program contains a wide array of physics studies of collisions at center of mass energies between 3 GeV and 5 GeV. New challenges await the CLEO-c online computing system, as the trigger rates are expected to rise from less than 100 Hz to around 300 Hz at the...
متن کاملA Solution to the Problem of Extrapolation in Car Following Modeling Using an online fuzzy Neural Network
Car following process is time-varying in essence, due to the involvement of human actions. This paper develops an adaptive technique for car following modeling in a traffic flow. The proposed technique includes an online fuzzy neural network (OFNN) which is able to adapt its rule-consequent parameters to the time-varying processes. The proposed OFNN is first trained by an growing binary tree le...
متن کاملAn Optimized Online Secondary Path Modeling Method for Single-Channel Feedback ANC Systems
This paper proposes a new method for online secondary path modeling in feedback active noise control (ANC) systems. In practical cases, the secondary path is usually time-varying. For these cases, online modeling of secondary path is required to ensure convergence of the system. In literature the secondary path estimation is usually performed offline, prior to online modeling, where in the prop...

متن کاملAn Indoor Positioning System Based on Wi-Fi for Energy Management in Smart Buildings
To offer indoor services to occupants in the context of smart buildings, it is necessary to consider information concerning to the identity and location of the occupants. This paper proposes an indoor positioning system (IPS) based on Wi-Fi fingerprint and K-nearest neighbors (KNN) method. The positioning of a mobile device (MD) using Wi-Fi technology involves online and offline phases. In this...
